Noah Lyles opens on his coach's advice before racing IShowSpeed
Noah Lyles opened up about his coach's advice before racing IShowSpeed. The American athlete revealed that his coach wanted him to dominate the race entirely right from the beginning. However, considering the entertainment element, Lyles agreed to cut the race distance to 50m to make it as close as possible.
"I know people don't want to see a blowout. I got coach in the back like you need to make sure it's 100 and you need to put this man in the dirt. But in my head, I'm like that's not entertaining coach. People are gonna see that and be like oh well that's all right. But if I make it 50, I can make it close enough to where I don't have to try as hard but I can still make it close," he said.
Moreover, Lyles revealed that he threw his arms in celebration before the finish line so that the race would seem like a close win and people would anticipate a rematch garnering many eyes to the sport.
