American swimming icon Katie Ledecky is known for her freestyle prowess in the pool, with the 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle being her best events. She is anticipated to medal in both categories at the Paris Olympics.

Ledecky has amassed two Olympic and six World Championship golds in the 800m freestyle, while in the 1500m freestyle, the 27-year-old secured the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Incidentally, the discipline was introduced for the first time for women at the Olympic Games they're. She has also earned three World Championship golds in the 1500m freestyle, which makes her the reigning world and Olympic champion in both domains.

She will be participating in both events at the Paris Olympics, and apart from the two events, Ledecky is scheduled to participate in the 400-meter freestyle and 4x200m free relay events as well. With the 400m freestyle reaching its conclusion at the Olympic Aquatics Centre, she was defeated by her Australian counterpart, Ariarne Titmus, who is the reigning Olympic champion in the domain.

Titmus defended her 400m freestyle Olympic title after clocking 3:57.49, while Summer McIntosh of Canada finished second with 3:58.37, and Katie Ledecky took third place on the podium with a 4:00.86. However, in the heat 3 of the preliminary rounds, it was Ledecky who bested Titmus and others to qualify for the finals in style.

Katie Ledecky holds the world records in the 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle events for both long courses and short courses. Her 800m free short course world-leading time is 7:57.42, which she set during the 2022 FINA World Cup in November, while in the 800m free long course, the world record stands at 8:04.79, which came during the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In the 1500m women's freestyle, the Washington, DC-based swimmer is yet to be defeated, and she again holds both long-course and short-course world record times in the domain.

In the 1500m free short course, she clocked 15:08.24 at the 2022 FINA World Cup, a time that stands still as the world record. In the 1500m free short course, Ledecky holds the world record with a time of 15:20.48, which she set during the TYR Pro Swim Series in 2028 in Brazil.

At the ongoing Paris Olympics, Katie Ledecky will be competing in the 800m freestyle finals on Saturday, August 3. The 1500m finals are on on Wednesday, July 31.
