The 25-year-old New Jersey-based athlete had a record-breaking stint at the Paris Summer Games as she defended her 400-meter hurdles title in dominating fashion. Fans were waiting for a thrilling 400-meter face-off between McLaughlin-Levrone and her Dutch rival Femke Bol, also the second-fastest woman in the distance.

The two lined up against each other for the finals on Friday, August 9, where McLaughlin-Levrone outpaced the competition after winning the race in 50.37 seconds, setting a new world record. Bol placed third with a time of 52.15 seconds.

The American icon then participated in the women's 4x400m relay on Sunday, August 11, where she joined her compatriots Gabby Thomas, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes.

The US quartet brought home their eighth consecutive gold in the event with a time of 3:15.27, the second fastest time ever recorded in that distance. McLaughlin-Levrone ran her split in 47.70 seconds, which was the fastest among all the competitors.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone signed a deal with TAG Heuer in 2021, alongside reigning 200-meter Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo and 100-meter bronze medalist Fred Kerley. In announcing the collaboration, the brand stated (via TAG Heuer's website):
