200m Olympic champion Gabby Thomas recently spoke about what helps her remain confident while competing on the track. The American athlete had a successful campaign at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Thomas' 2024 season was one of her best as she won three gold medals at the quadrennial event. She also clinched two gold medals at the 2024 World Athletics Relays held in May.
The Georgia native recently spoke about self-confidence in an interview with SELF and stated that mentality is one of the most crucial parts of a track and field athlete. Thomas also stated during the interview that she works tirelessly during her practice sessions and enforces various rituals in her routine to foster a sense of mental strength and confidence in herself. She said (via SELF):
"Mental confidence is a huge part of my sport, and the energy that comes from knowing I’m at my strongest is what truly makes me feel fabulous. So every day, I’m building the habit of training consistently, working hard, and pushing my limits."
Thomas added:
"When it comes to feeling hot, it’s all about a mindset that I’ve cultivated through my training, style, and little rituals."
During the interview, Gabby Thomas also mentioned the need for good music during her training sessions as it helps her get into the main character zone.

Five-time Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas recently attended a WNBA game between the New York Liberty and Atlanta Dream at the Barclays Center in New York. The game was a day before she ran in the 200m dash at the Athlos NYC.
It was her second live WNBA game after her Indiana Fever experience last month where she and seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles got to meet Iowa prodigy Caitlin Clark.
Thomas heaped praises on the New York Liberty's impressive performance during the match on Instagram and also mentioned the amazing energy of the WNBA. She wrote:
"Shout out to the Liberty for putting on a show tonight! Loving the energy of the wnba"
The New York Liberty showcased a strong performance in the playoff against the Atlanta Dream and defeated them 91-82. Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu made valuable contributions to the New York side by adding 20 and 36 points respectively.
