Just a couple of weeks after his incredible outing at the Paris Olympics, pole vaulting sensation Mondo Duplantis will be back in action on the field, this time at the Lausanne Diamond League. The Swede is scheduled to compete at 18:00 PM local time, i.e 12:00 PM ET, on August 21, a full day before the rest of the Diamond League events.

A star-studded field will be accompanying Duplantis lakeside at Ouchy (Place de la Navigation). The 24-year-old enters the competition having gone unbeaten for an entire year, his last loss having come in July 2023.

So far, the pole vaulter’s Olympic year has seen him compete 13 times, with 13 subsequent trips to the top of the podium. In April 2024, he cleared a height of 6.24m at the Xiamen Diamond League, setting his eight world record. He took the sport to new heights, literally, at the Paris Olympics, where he achieved a mark of 6.25m to defend his title in front of a roaring crowd at Stade De France.

Now, amongst the eleven pole vaulters joining Mondo Duplantis at the Lausanne Diamond League will be Paris Olympics silver and bronze medalists Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis. However, neither is likely to pose a big threat to the Swede as long as he's at the top of his game.

Kendricks cleared 5.95m at the Games for his silver, while Karalis jumped 5.90m for third-place. Both hold personal bests slightly better than these jumps, with the American coming in with a PB of 6.06m, and the Greek coming in with a PB 5.93m, but their marks are a far cry away from the reigning Olympic champion and his newly minted world record of 6.25m.

Lausanne Diamond League: How to watch Mondo Duplantis in action?

Fans in America excited to watch US born Mondo Duplantis in action at the Diamond League can tune into NBC's Peacock to catch the Olympic champion live. The last time the pole vaulter competed in Lausanne was in 2022, when he cleared a height of 6.10m for the win.

Besides Duplantis, Kendricks, and Karalis, the lineup for the event also include American Christopher Nielson, Frenchman Thibaut Collet, as well as 2012 Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie.

The Lausanne event will be the Swede's third Diamond League appearance of 2024, having previously competed in Xiamen and Paris.
