After an enthralling semifinal match where he dominated the mat, Spencer Lee will be back in action at the Champ-De-Mars Arena on August 9 for his Paris Olympics men's 57kg wrestling final. The American's gold medal bout is scheduled for 19:35 PM local time, i.e 13:35 PM ET.

Lee had a busy day at the Paris Games on August 8, beginning his campaign in the City of Lights and winning three straight matches to make it through to the men's 57 kg freestyle final. For his first bout, the American took on Zou Wanhao of China, securing a 3-2 victory by points.

Next, Lee took on Almaz Uulu Bekzat, the 2023 Asian U23 Champion. However, the Kyrgyzstani wrestler failed to give too much of a challenge, with the American winning 12-2 based on technical fall.

For his semifinal encounter, Spencer Lee faced Abdullaev Gulomjon, his toughest obstacle yet. Gulomjon placed seventh at the Tokyo Olympics, and made it to the quarterfinals of both the 2022 and 2023 World Championships. However, the Uzbek proved to be of little challenge to Lee, as the latter took down his opponent 14-4 by technical fall.

The American will now take on Rei Higuchi as the two wrestlers battle it out for the gold medal. The Japanese wrestler was the silver-medalist at the Tokyo Games, and was crowned World Champion in 2022, before settling for yet another silver at the 2023 World Championships.

Higuchi has been dominant in his path to the final at the Paris Olympics, and will prove to be a tough challenge to overcome for Lee. The former World Champion was given a walkover in his first match, and followed it up with two dominant bouts. In the quarterfinals, he beat Darian Toi Cruz 12-2 by technical fall, before meting out a similar treatment to Aman Sehrawat, downing the Indian 10-0 in yet another technical fall.
