The NCAA women's volleyball championship final will see Louisville take on Penn State. While Penn State are in their 11th final, it's a second title clash for Louisville.

The semifinals of the tournament was a face off between four No.1 seeds, with the Louisville Cardinals battling the Pittsburgh Panthers, while the Penn State Nittany Lions fought the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Now, the Cardinals and the Nittany Lions will clash swords with each other on Sunday, December 22 to see who is crowned the NCAA women's volleyball champion. The match is scheduled for 3 PM at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, and will be broadcasted on ABC, ESPN+, as well as Disney+.

Going into this match, both Louisville and Penn State are in top form. The Cardinals’ clash against the Panthers in the semifinals saw them stage quite the display in front of a massive home crowd.

The team was already the underdog before the match, having lost to Pittsburgh twice in the regular season. Things got more bleak for Louisville when they lost the first set, but they bounced back quickly, clinching the next three sets to finalize their berth in the finals.

Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions were just as impressive in their semifinals clash. The team got off to a slow start, with the Huskers, who were the overwhelming favorites for the win, claiming the first two sets 25-23, 25-18. However, Penn State staged an incredible comeback, winning the next three sets 25-23, 28-26, and 15-13 to topple Nebraska and move into the finals.

Going into this NCAA women's volleyball finals match, the Louisville Cardinals and the Penn State Nittany Lions have battled a total of times since 1982. Over the course of these encounters, the latter have been the dominant team, emerging victorious eight times.

Most recently, the two teams battled in a regular season game on September 3, where the Nittany Lions claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over the Cardinals on home ground.

However, the home court advantage will be with the Cardinals in Sunday's summit clash, and the team's win over Pittsburgh has already proven that a cheering crowd in the KFC Yum! Center is a big plus for Louisville.
