Simone Biles kicked off her Olympic season last week with an appearance and victory at the U.S. Core Hydration Classic. The American will next take to the mat at the upcoming Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships, where audiences can expect to see her perform her trademark gravity-defying moves between May 30 and June 2.
For Biles, her participation at the U.S Classic marked her first time in action since September 2023 at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. While in Belgium, the 27-year-old had walked away with four golds as well as a silver and despite a seven-month absence, she brought the same form to Hartford.
Competing at the XL Centre, Biles was the favorite to win the all-around and she delivered top performances. Cheered on by her husband, Jonathan Owens, at the sidelines, the Olympian made her way to her seventh U.S. Classic all-around title with relative ease, scoring a 59.500 that put her well out of reach of competition.
On the floor, the American performed her eponymous Biles II, a triple twisting double somersault, for the first time since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The routine scored her a 14.800, good enough for gold. She also won the gold on the vault, credit to her Yurchenko double pike that scored a 15.600. The gymnast won a silver on the uneven bars and the balance beam.
Now, Simone Biles will get a chance to whip out her genius on home turf. The Xfinity US Gymnastic Championships is scheduled to take place between May 30 and June 2, in Fort Worth, Texas at the Dickies Arena. The best performers at these national championships will earn themselves a spot at the U.S Olympic Team Trials, and Biles remains a favorite for the win once again.
