Riley Gaines recently reacted to the comments about American basketball player Caitlin Clark, who represents team Indiana Fever at the WNBA league. Clark was recently announced as the Time Athlete of the Year.

A few days ago, Gaines had expressed her thoughts on Clark's comments about the 'white privilege'. Jemele Hill, who is a writer for 'The Atlantic' portal, called out Gaines for her comments on her X handle [formerly Twitter].

Gaines responded by sharing a screenshot of Hill's article on Clark, where she claimed that Clark's 'race and sexuality' was problematic. Gaines added in her post on her X handle,

"This you? Saying Caitlin Clark's race and sexuality make her "problematic" ??? Clark isn't the problem. She's the solution. Being a long-standing professional race baiter must be SO exhausting."

When Hill tried to corner Gaines for her response, the 24-year-old swimmer turned social activist further added,

" 'White privilege' in the WNBA is literally hilarious. Maybe you're like Sunny Hostin & think CC also has tall privilege, pretty privilege, and straight privilege. Theres lots of black players in the WNBA I love & respect too, but I don't admire them because they're black. I admire them for their game. That's the difference."

Riley Gaines has previously supported Caitlin Clark on several occasions. She had even called out WNBA star Angel Reese for her comments over Clark taking a chartered flight.

Previously, Riley Gaines had reacted to Caitlin Clark's comments over 'white privilege'. These comments came days after she was nominated for Time magazine's 'Athlete of the Year' award.

Clark had mentioned in an interview with the publication afterwards,

"I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege. A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been Black players. This league has kind of been built on them. The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that, and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important. I have to continue to try to change that."

However, her comments caused an uproar over the social media. Gaines reacted to this issue as she wrote on her X handle,

"No one was asking for Caitlin Clark to position herself as a right-wing hero. All she needed to do was remain neutral."

Riley Gaines has been persistently campaigning for the exclusion of trans athletes from women's sports. She also campaigned for the Republican candidate Donald Trump, who went on to win the US Presidential Elections for the upcoming term of 2025.
