Gabby Thomas has been turning heads with her exceptional performances in track and field for a while. Her love life has also drawn significant attention, with fans eager to know more about her relationship with her boyfriend Spencer McManes.
While it's unclear how Thomas and McManes first met, Town & Country Magazine suggests they began dating in October 2022 after meeting in Austin, Texas. The 29-year-old publicly confirmed their relationship in early 2023 by sharing a picture of them together on Instagram with the caption, "Vacation every day." However, he has since made his account private.
McManes was born to Skip and Lori and grew up in Roswell, Georgia, with three siblings: Carter, Mackie, and Livvie. He and Thomas share a common passion for sports.
He was the quarterback at Yale, graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government while his girlfriend studied Neurobiology and Global Health at Harvard. After moving to Austin to train, she pursued her master’s at the University of Texas.
Spencer McManes also played rugby for the Austin Huns Rugby Club but chose not to pursue a career in sports like Gabby Thomas.
After graduating, he joined the McChrystal Group in 2021 as an analyst (following an internship in 2016) and later became an associate and senior product management associate.
In May of the same year, he moved to People AI as a senior customer success manager before transitioning to DataGrail in 2023, where he currently works in the same role. He is also the founder of Kaviva, a brand specializing in non-alcoholic kava seltzer. (All his professional experiences are sourced directly from his LinkedIn profile.)
