Recently, Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball player Harper Murray watched her boyfriend Heinrich Haarberg represent the college's football team against the Boston College Eagles at the Pinstripe Bowl. Haarberg's team won the game against Boston College Eagles by 20-15.
Murray uploaded several photographs of her visit to the Pinstripe Bowl game on Instagram. She captioned the post:
"husker win in the 718 @pinstripebowl"
The 19-year-old volleyball player also shared a heartwarming note for Haarberg on her Instagram story. She wrote,
"I'm the proudest girlfriend in the world. I love you! Pinstripe [email protected]."
Haarberg joined the Cornhuskers in 2021. However, it wasn't until the 2023 season that the quarterback finally played for the team. Haarberg has earned the honor of being included in the Academic All-Big Ten not once but thrice, in the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Here is a brief profile of the 21-year-old quarterback.
Early Life of Heinrich Haarberg
Heinrich Haarberg was born on March 15, 2003. Sports were a part of his everyday life. His father, Rod Haarberg, was a fullback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers college football team in the 1990s. His mother, Liz Haarberg, was an athlete at Oklahoma State University.
Before joining the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Haarberg completed his primary education from the Kearney Catholic High School. During his sophomore season, he also participated in the Nebraska Class C state track and field championships. Haarberg finished second in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter relay and third in both the 100-meter dash and the high jump.
However, in 2020, Haarberg chose college football. He was a 2020 Sports Illustrated All-America candidate, and he got offers from Boston College, Vanderbilt, and NC State. However, he chose Nebraska Football, becoming the first in-state scholarship quarterback who signed up with Nebraska since 2001.
Heinrich Haarberg's achievements
Heinrich Haarberg joined the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2021, but it was only in 2023, that he started playing competitive games for the team. Apart from the Academic All-Big Ten honors he has received every year since 2022, the 21-year-old quarterback has also received awards like the 2022 Brooke Berringer Citizenship Team honor, and he has etched his name four times on the coveted Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Haarberg has contributed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers' victories more than once. Haarberg has completed 10-of-18 passes for 101 yards, rushed 25 times for 102 yards, and caught one pass for eight yards
Before the victory against the Boston College Eagles, Haarberg contributed to the Huskers' victory against the Wisconsin Badgers in November 2024, whom they defeated 44-25. Haarberg scored the first touchdown in the game against the Badgers.
