Noe Ponti is a Swiss swimmer who recently broke the 50m Butterfly world record at the 2024 Swimming World Cup's first stop in Shanghai. He clocked 21.67s during the event's heats to become the first Swiss swimmer in 39 years to break the world record.
Owing to this, the 23-year-old bettered Nicholas Santos and Szebasztian Szabo's previous record by a margin of 0.08 seconds. Ponti followed this performance with another impressive outing during the finals of the event where he clocked 21.68 seconds to win the event.
Besides the 50m Butterfly, Ponti also won the 100m Butterfly event in 48.40 seconds on the first day of the Shanghai event. This was also a World Cup record time in the event
. He also finished second and third in the 100m Medley and 200m Medley events respectively, both of which were won by the French swimmer Leon Marchand.

Ponti was born in the southern town of Locarno, Switzerland on June 1, 2001, to Vittoria Ponti and Mauro Pinti. He also has an elder sister named Asia Ponti and all three of them are involved with Ponti's team currently.

Ponti went to Gambarogno's Elementary School and attended middle school at Vira and Cadenazzo's. He then pursued his major in Economics at the North Carolina State University.

At the delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Ponti clinched a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly event in 50.74 seconds. He finished just behind USA's Caeleb Dressel and Hungary's Kristof Milak in the race.
The Locarno native was also a part of Switzerland's 4x100m freestyle relay during the Olympics. However, the quartet including him, Antonio Djakovic, Nils Leiss, and Roman Mityukov failed to advance past the heats and finished 14th. Ponti helped the same quartet advance to the finals of the 4x200m freestyle where they eventually finished sixth.
Competing at the 2023 European Swimming Championships- short course, Ponti clinched four medals in the event, including three gold in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Butterfly events. His other achievements include winning three medals at the World Swimming Championships (two silver and a bronze).
