Who are the swimmers who qualified for the Paris Olympics as of Day 3 of the Olympic trials ft Ryan Murphy, Gretchen Walsh

With three days of the U.S Swimming Trials done with, fans know the names of nine swimmers who are guaranteed a berth at the Paris Olympics. The names include a few veteran swimmers, as well as a crop of upcoming stars.

On the men’s end, qualifiers for the 2024 Games include Aaron Shackell, Carson Foster, Nic Fink, Luke Hobson, and Ryan Murphy.

Meanwhile, Katie Ledecky, Gretchen Walsh, Katie Grimes, and Lilly King will be representing Team USA in the women's swimming events at the Paris Olympics.

Additionally, Kieran Smith, Chase Kalisz, Charlie Swanson, Chris Guilano, Hunter Armstrong, Paige Madden, Torri Huske, Emma Weyant, Emma Weber, and Claire Weinstein, have also nearly finalized their spot at the Games. The ten swimmers have finished second in the races held so far, and are all well within the Olympic qualification mark.

Aaron Shackell and Katie Ledecky were the first two to qualify for the Paris Olympics, with the 400m freestyle finals having been held on the first day of the competition. For 19-year-old Shackell, this will mark his debut at the Games and fulfills a lifelong dream of following in his father's footsteps as an Olympian.

For Ledecky, this will mark her fourth consecutive appearance at the Games. After earning her berth in the 400m freestyle on the opening night, the veteran swimmer dominated the 200m free on Monday.

Familiar faces on the team for Ledecky will include Ryan Murphy and Lily King. Both the swimmers were part of the US squad at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games and will be making their third consecutive Olympic appearance this summer.

Other Americans who will head into Paris as season Olympians are Nic Fink and Katie Grimes. Both were a part of Team USA in 2020, but neither of them managed to pick up a medal while there.

Meanwhile, outside of the veteran swimmers on Team USA, Aaron Shackell will be joined by at least three fellow Americans who will be making their Olympic debut at the 2024 Games. Carson Foster, Luke Hobson, and Gretchen Walsh all topped their respective events to assure themselves of a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

For Foster, this comes as revenge after he finished third at the 2020 Olympic Trials, missing out on a spot on the team by a hair. Meanwhile, both Hobson and Walsh have put up extraordinary performances in the collegiate circuit in the last year, and fans will be excited to see how their skills translate on the big stage.
