American track sensation Sha'Carri Richardson is all set to participate in the 2024 U.S. Track and Field Olympic trials in a bid to qualify for her first Olympic Games. She will be in action in both women’s 100m and 200m in the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Sha'Carri Richardson will begin her campaign at the trials on Friday (June 21) as she will compete in the heats of the women’s 100m. The 24-year-old will feature in heat 4 of the women’s 100m at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic trials. The reigning world champion in the 100m faces a formidable challenge from both Tamara Clark and Tamari Davis as they are also present in heat 4 of the 100m.
Both Clark and Davis were members of the women’s 4x100m relay squad along with Richardson at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. The team won gold in the finals, although Clark ran only the preliminaries.
In 2024, both Clark and Davis have run below the 11.00s in the women’s 100m. Clark accomplished it in the finals of the PURE Athletics Sprint Elite Meet, clocking a time of 10.98s (+1.9 m/s). On the other hand, Davis achieved the feat twice at the Tom Jones Memorial and Doha Diamond League, with running times of 10.94s (+1.2) and 10.99s (+2.0) respectively in the finals.
Besides Clark and Davis, Richardson's heat 4 lineup also includes Semira Killebrew, Ariane Linton, Jassani Carter, Nya Bussey, Cambrea Sturgis, and Jahniya Bowers.
Round 1 of the women’s 100m which includes four heats will begin at 5:53 pm (Pacific Time) during the evening session of Day 1 (June 21) at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic trials. The semi-finals and finals for the 100m are scheduled for June 22.
A look at Sha'Carri Richardson’s 2024 season
