Rising track star Quincy Wilson has taken the world by storm with his performances in the 2024 Olympic season. He recently clocked a personal best time of 45.13s time in the Boys’ 400m final. Wilson defended his New Balance Nationals Outdoor title, finishing much ahead of his competitors Mateo Medina (46.41s) and Jaden Marchan (46.58s).

The Bullis School sophomore Quincy Wilson has been in exemplary form this season and will compete at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field trials, scheduled from June 21 to June 30, 2024. He has been entered to compete in the men’s 400m event at the Olympic trials.

At the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field trials, Round 1 of the men’s 400m event is slated for June 21 on the first day of the competition, with semis and finals scheduled on June 23 and 24, respectively.

There, the 16-year-old will encounter formidable opposition from some of the United States’ biggest quarter-milers including Michael Norman, Vernon Norwood, Quincy Hall, Chris Bailey, Justin Robinson, and Matthew Boling, among other athletes.

Following his title defense at the New Balance Nationals, Wilson spoke in an interview with Citius Mag about the race, stating:

“I'm feeling pretty good, not that much practice going into it, taking a lot of weeks off and time off. But it was overall a good race, just warming up.”

He also opened up on racing the trials, adding:

“Yeah, so I'm going to the Olympic trials, trying to make the USA team. But as a 16-year-old, I'm just blessed to be in this spot. I'm coming out here, and I'm racing with the big dogs now, so I had to put on my big boy boots.”

Quincy Wilson’s rise to prominence in 2024

Quincy Wilson made headlines in the 2024 season after defending his New Balance Nationals Indoors title, registering a time of 45.76s in the finals, as he smashed the high school indoor record over the distance on March 10, 2024.

He further showcased his skills at the 2024 Penn Relays where he recorded a 44.37s split while running the anchor leg in the heats of the High School Boys' 4x400m race, which was also the quickest ever split by a high school athlete in the history of the Penn Relays.

For his extraordinary performance, Quincy Wilson also received praise from the six-time World champion Noah Lyles. Responding to one of the posts by Travis Miller, Lyles stated on X (formerly Twitter):

“I’m not putting any limits on @QuincyWilson5”

This was Lyles' response to Wilson's outdoor season opener as Wilson clocked 45.19s at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
