16-year-old American track athlete Quincy Wilson recently shed light on his mindset while dealing with distractions. This comes just a few weeks after the Virginia native received the 2024 USATF Youth Athlete of the Year award for his impressive performances on the track.
In 2024, Wilson had a breakthrough season when he won an Olympic gold medal as a part of the US 4x400m relay team. Besides, he also clinched the top position on the podium in numerous other regional tournaments such as New Balance Outdoor Games in Philadelphia and Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville.
Despite this success at a young age, Wilson is not being carried away as he recently stressed on the importance of being away from distractions that can harm his track career.
In a recent interview with "Dazed 100", Quincy Wilson opined that going to parties is not as fun as winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He said:
"Being at the Games (Olympics) and winning a gold medal is way more fun that going to a party. I feel that a gold medal is going to last forever, that party is going to last for two to three hours. I am have that for life, all the other little things you are not going to have."

Quincy Wilson recently visited Nike's Armory Track and field facility located on Fort Washington Avenue, New York.
Wilson took to his Instagram handle to share glimpses of his visit to the facility. In the post, the 16-year-old can be seen spending some time with several other young runners on the track. Wilson can be seen donning a t-shirt and complementing it with a sleeveless blue jacket and white shoes.
He wrote in the caption:
"Thank you @armorynyc! It was an unforgettable experience, filled with memories that will last a lifetime."
The Armory Track facility was the seat of the 2024 Millrose Games in February where Wilson clinched the 600m short track U20 event after clocking a run time of 1:17.36 seconds. He was also a part of the quartet that clinched second position in the 4x200m relay U20 event after registering a combined time of 1:26.65s.
