As the Paris Olympics all set to unfold a new chapter in the history of the sporting circuit, the Eiffel Tower received some new modifications. The greatest sporting event will return to the French Capital after 100 years.

The symbolic five rings of the Olympics that represent the continents were installed on the tower to mark the remaining 50 days for the quadrennial event. The rings are reportedly made of recycled French Steel and are facing the River Seine. The rings will also be embedded with LEDs during the Paralympic games, scheduled just after the Olympics.

Speaking about this in a statement, Tony Estanguet, the chairman of the Paris Olympics, explained the importance of this installation:

"It is wonderful. There are a lot of emotions, and we can feel that things are happening. With the Olympic Torch Relay travelling across the country and now with the unveiling of the Olympic rings, it will transform the face of Paris and rally the entire nation for these memorable Olympic Games."

The monumental tower will also feature during the event's opening ceremony as numerous athletes participating in the games will parade around Paris. Besides, the medals for the Olympic and Paralympic games will feature chunks of iron taken from a part of the historical Eiffel Tower.

The foot of the monumental figure will also be hosting the men's and women's volleyball games and the blind football games during the Olympics. The Eiffel Tower stadium was temporarily built with this aim near the Champ De Mars at the River Seine side and will be dismantled just after the quadrennial event.

The stadium can accommodate more than 13000 fans at a time who can come and enjoy these Olympic games just beneath the historical monument.

Paris Olympics adds new facility to protect the mental health of athletes

Many Olympians have faced various mental health issues that have affected their career drastically. The most recent example is the American gymnast, Simone Biles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, during which she suffered from twisties, a psychological disorder.

In support of this, the organizers of the Paris Olympics have installed a new facility called the 365Athlete Mind Zone at the Olympic Village that will help the athletes counter their mental demons.

It will offer various facilities to the participants that can help them through their meditation and other mental stress reliever activities.
