Mikaela Shiffrin suffered a major crash after losing balance during the second run of her World Cup Giant Slalom race. Her appearance at the World Cup in Killington raised great anticipation among fans as she was competing in a quest to win her 100th title.

The 29-year-old skier had a great start; however, she lost her balance towards the end of the race and crashed into the protective fencing of the course. Soon, she was attended by the team and taken to the medical center for further examination.

Mikaela Shiffrin took to X to share an update on her injury and revealed that she suffered an abrasion on her hip, which restricted her movement. Moreover, she revealed that it felt as if something 'stabbed' her.

Fans took to X to rally behind the former World Cup champion and extended their support to her.

"After looking at the replay of the crash, I wonder if that fencing was the thing that stabbed you," wrote a fan.
"Hoping for a speedy recovery. You're the best of all time!!" another fan chimed in.
"Just so relieved you waved 👋🏻 on your way down in the sled. You are still the goat 🐐 and I have faith, in time, you will hit that 💯win! ⛷️💨🏁," another fan tweeted.

Hours after the crash, Mikaela Shiffrin took to X to share an update from the hospital as she was receiving medical treatment. The American skier revealed that the situation was under control however, the abrasion on her hip has restricted her movement.

"Hi guys not too much cause for concern right it's just that I just can't move. I have a pretty good abrasion and something stabbbed me under her fingers. It's just so that I can't move. I am so sorry to scare everybody and it looks like all the scans are clear so far," she said.

Furthermore, she congratulated her teammates as well as the top performers of the event and expressed that she looked forward to the next day of the competition in Killington.
