Josh Kerr has sent a stark warning to his opponents ahead of the Paris Olympic Games scheduled for August 1 to 11. The reigning world 1500m champion will be making his second appearance on the Olympic stage.

Kerr made his Olympic debut at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, claiming a bronze medal in the men’s 1500m and he will be out to improve on his bronze when he steps foot on the purple track at the Stade de France.

To accomplish his dream, the Englishman is leaving no stone unturned as he eyes the historic gold medal.

In a post on his Instagram handle, Kerr noted that he is working behind the scenes in preparation to show the world what he is capable of. With the statement, he also fired shots at his opponents, including his arch-rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the reigning Olympic 1500m champion.

"Working in the shadows, getting ready for the spotlights. #roadtoparis #teamgb #olympics #notimefortalk," Kerr captioned the photo he posted.

This comes after Ingebrigtsen's recent exploits at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco. Ingebrigtsen clocked a blistering 3:26.73 to become the fourth athlete in history to break the 3:27 barrier in the 1500m. He also took his European record from 3:27.14 to the world lead of 3:26.73.

Meanwhile, Kerr has been in great form this season but is yet to test his form over the 1500m. However, with his performance over the mile at the Prefontaine Classic where he triumphed over Ingebrigtsen, Kerr is certainly the man to beat in Paris.

He also claimed top honours in the 800m at the Oregon Relays before finishing seventh at the UK Championships. Josh Kerr started his Olympic campaign with a win in the 3000m at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

Josh Kerr also won the two-mile race at the 2024 at the Millrose Games that was held at the Armory Track & Field Center.

Josh Kerr was announced as the latest signee of the Grand Slam Track League after Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and has disclosed the decision behind joining the newly launched league.

Kerr noted that he has always embraced progression and the vision from Michael Johnson is clear.

"I’ve always been very open to progression in our sport and I think there is another way that the running world is moving towards. They approached me to lead their 800m/1500m category and I saw their vision and they understand who I am as an athlete," Josh Kerr told Athletics Weekly.

He added:

"I think it suits me super well and it’ll allow me to race where I want to race and race the people I want to race. I’m looking to race the best people in the world as often as I can and that is sometimes difficult on the circuit because you don’t know where everyone’s going to be."

Kerr came into the limelight at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where he beat Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the finish line.

Kerr took the men’s 1500m title, clocking a stunning 3:29.38 to cross the finish line ahead of Ingebrigtsen who timed 3:29.65. Another Norwegian, Narve Gilje Nordås, completed the podium, crossing the line in 3:29.68.
