The United States will feature a 100-member track and field contingent at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships, slated to be held at the Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru, from August 27 to 31, 2024. Out of the 100 athletes, 53 are male and 47 are female.
This is also, remarkably, the biggest team that any country has ever sent to the championship; Australia and Germany are not far behind, with 68 and 92 entries, respectively.
The young USA athletes qualified for the World Athletics U20 Championships through their impressive performances at the USATF U20 Championships, held from June 12 to 13, at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Initially, USA Track and Field (USATF) announced it would not send a team to the World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru. However, the national governing body later reversed its decision after receiving assurances from both World Athletics and the World U20 Championships Local Organizing Committee that all necessary safety protocols will be implemented.
Some of the prominent American athletes to look out for at the event include Jaden Wiley, Juriad Hughes, Trent McFarland, Sophia Beckmon, Zaya Akins, and Cheyla Scott among others.
