Yohan Blake penned a heartfelt note for his friends thanking them for their unwavering support as he succeded in executing his 'wild idea' of starting a business outside Jamaica. The 34-year-old athlete started a new business, Butchers Barrel in Oakland Park, Florida thereby fulfilling his dream of starting an International Business.
Yohan Blake began the 2024 track season intending to qualify for his fourth consecutive Olympic Games held in Paris. However, the former Olympic silver medalist failed to qualify for the quadrennial games in the French capital by finishing fifth in the men's 100m at the Jamaican Olympic Trials with a performance of 10.21s thereby leaving his dream of making his fourth appearance at the major games.
After a heartbreaking exit at the Jamaican Olympic Trials, Blake decided to work on launching his first International business. Two months after the Paris Olympics, Yohan Blake successfully launched his first restaurant in Oakland Park, Florida.
He took to Instagram to thank his friends for their support throughout his journey of launching his first international venture. Furthermore, he expressed how his friends had an optimistic outlook and encouraged him as he worked towards his new goal.
"Today, I woke up with my heart full of gratitude for everyone in my corner, especially my friends @craig4408 and @hutchinsonborris. When I had the wild idea to start a business outside of my home country, none of them ever said it was impossible," he wrote.
"Instead, they motivated and inspired me through the toughest moments, and together, we made it happen. We successfully launched our first international business!" he added.
He also thanked his staff and team members for working tirelessly to witness the dream come true.
Yohan Blake on making his final Olympic appearance
Yohan Blake spoke about making his final track appearance at the Olympic Games in an interview with Insidegames. The Jamaican athlete who has been competing in the professional track circuit as a junior since 2007 spoke about his making his final Olympic appearance after being on the track circuit for over 15 years.
"Doing the 200, 100 and relays simply takes a lot out of you, so these are the events I want to focus on. Paris 2024 should be my last dance,"he said.
Yohan Blake holds the record for running the second-fastest 200m of all time and with four Olympic medals under his belt is one of the most prominent Jamaican sprinters of modern times. Blake has yet to release a statement about his plans for the upcoming 2025 track season.
