Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Andre Levrone are one of track and field's most well-known couples, with the latter being a familiar face on the sidelines whenever the hurdler is competing. After the couple got married in 2022, the American once revealed her thoughts upon her first time meeting Levrone in person.

McLaughlin-Levrone and her husband first started interacting in 2020, when Andre reached out to the Olympic champion on Instagram. The couple quickly hit it off and became inseparable, going public later that same year. They got engaged in 2021 and were married a year later at a vineyard in Virginia.

In her novel, Far Beyond Gold: Running From Fear to Faith, McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about her first time meeting her husband in person after the duo had been talking for a little while. She recalled that she had parked a little away from the restaurant, and what struck her the most was his height and choice of outfit, with his clothes feeling too casual for a date. She wrote:

“As I walked up to the restaurant, I saw Andre for the first time. The first thing I noticed was his height. At six-foot-three, he was much taller than I expected. The second was his outfit choice: a Jordan sweatsuit. I had on jeans, a cute top, and some New Balance sneakers. And the restaurant had an average ambience. I felt like asking him, "You do know we're on a date, right?" Later, Andre would tell me he'd intentionally chosen a casual meeting and an outfit I might see him wearing on an ordinary day. He wanted to be a genuine version of his everyday self.”

For Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the 2024 season was memorable, and she made sure to celebrate it on a special trip with her husband. After sitting out most of 2023 due to an injury, the American began her season in April, competing in various events.

Sydney's first big performance of the year came at the US Olympic Trials where she bettered her world record to a 50.65s in the finals. From there, McLaughlin-Levrone went on to defend her Olympic title with ease, setting a new world record of 50.37 en route to the 400m hurdles gold medal at the 2024 Games.

After this, Sydney and Andre Levrone made the most of the hurdler's off-season together, heading to Greece for a vacation. The Olympic champion even shared snaps of the trip on her Instagram.

Post her vacation, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone returned to the track one final time in 2024, running the 200 and 400m invitational events at the Brussels Diamond League Finals.
