Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Andre Levrone are one of track and field's most well-known couples, with the latter being a familiar face on the sidelines whenever the hurdler is competing. After the couple got married in 2022, the American once revealed her thoughts upon her first time meeting Levrone in person.
McLaughlin-Levrone and her husband first started interacting in 2020, when Andre reached out to the Olympic champion on Instagram. The couple quickly hit it off and became inseparable, going public later that same year. They got engaged in 2021 and were married a year later at a vineyard in Virginia.
In her novel, Far Beyond Gold: Running From Fear to Faith, McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about her first time meeting her husband in person after the duo had been talking for a little while. She recalled that she had parked a little away from the restaurant, and what struck her the most was his height and choice of outfit, with his clothes feeling too casual for a date. She wrote:
“As I walked up to the restaurant, I saw Andre for the first time. The first thing I noticed was his height. At six-foot-three, he was much taller than I expected. The second was his outfit choice: a Jordan sweatsuit. I had on jeans, a cute top, and some New Balance sneakers. And the restaurant had an average ambience. I felt like asking him, "You do know we're on a date, right?" Later, Andre would tell me he'd intentionally chosen a casual meeting and an outfit I might see him wearing on an ordinary day. He wanted to be a genuine version of his everyday self.”
