Christian Coleman recently failed to qualify for the men's 100m dash at the Paris Olympics after getting trounced by one of his on-field arch-rivals, Noah Lyles, in the US Olympic Trials. Coleman reflected on the same after his 200m semi-final race at the Trials.

Coleman missed out on making the US men's 100m Olympic team after his loss in the 100m finals at the Trials. He clocked a time of 9.93s and claimed the fourth position behind Fred Kerley, who posted a time of 9.88s in the showdown. Noah Lyles stood atop the podium with a time of 9.83s, and following him was Kenny Bednarek in second place, who clocked 9.87s.

On Day 7 of the Trials, the 28-year-old will continue his quest to qualify for the Paris Olympics by competing in the 200m event. He claimed third place in the semi-finals of the event, and he opened up about his 100m loss in a post-race interview with FloTrack.

Coleman considered the loss to be a part of the sport, and he exuded confidence in himself for the coming future.

"It's just a part of the sport and I've been doing it for a while," Christian Coleman said. "So, it just what's come with the territory, you never plan for a failure and so I feel like I came here and checked off all the boxes, but I know so much more that I can do going forward."

He further added:

"Processing in my head, move on from it and we got more life to live."

In the aforementioned interview, Christian Coleman started off by talking about his performance in the 200m semi-finals on Day 6 of the Trials. He was satisfied with his feat and "hopes to replicate" the same energy in the finals of the discipline.

"I just wanted to be able to walk away from this meet feeling like I put together a good race, so that was just the plan going into the prelims and the semis and hopes to replicate that in the final and I think I got as good shot as anybody." (0:01 - 0:24)

The rivalry between Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman was one of the most anticipated since the start of the year. They won and lost to each other in the 60m race in several events, such as the USATF Indoor Championships and the World Indoor Championships.

The duo will be squaring off against each other once again at the 200m finals of the Trials on June 29 at Hayward Field, Eugene, Ohio.
