The US Olympic Trials in Athletics, Swimming, and Gymnastics witnessed remarkable performances as athletes gave their best to qualify for the Paris Olympics. However, there were a few teenage athletes who surpassed expectations by booking their spots in the USA’s team for the quadrennial games.

#6 Aaron Shackell (19 years)
Aaron Shackell is one of the promising names who will be competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was picked in the USA’s squad after winning the men’s 400m freestyle with a swim of 3:45.46 at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials for the quadrennial games.
With this, the 19-year-old teenager will make his Olympic debut at the Paris Olympics. Shackell, who began his collegiate career at the University of California, transferred to the University of Texas this summer where he is now pursuing his athletics and academic career.
#5 Katie Grimes (18 years)
Katie Grimes will be representing the United States in three events - (i) Swimming - 1500m freestyle and 400m individual medley, (ii) Open Water Swimming - 10km at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She previously qualified for the U.S. Olympic team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she narrowly finished outside the podium in the 800m freestyle by finishing fourth.
Some of her top accomplishments in her career include winning three silver and one bronze at the World Championships. This includes two silver in the 400m individual medley in 2022 and 2023, a silver in the 1500m freestyle in 2022, and a bronze in the 10km.
#4 Alex Shackell (17 years)
After Aaron Shackell qualified for the Olympic Games, his younger sister Alex Shackell joined him in the U.S. Olympic Swimming team after making it in the women’s butterfly event by finishing second in the trials with a time of 2:06.69.
She is also set to represent the United States in the 4x200m freestyle relay as she came sixth in the individual 200m freestyle finals with a 1:57.05.
#3 Thomas Heilman (17 years)
Thomas Heilman has secured his spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics in both the 200m and 100m butterfly events by finishing first and second in the events, with times of 1:54.50 and 50.80 respectively.
At the 2023 World Championships Long Course, he was a member of the USA’s men’s 4×100m medley relay squad that won gold, although he only featured in the heats.
#2 Hezly Rivera (16 years)
Hezly Rivera was named in the five-member USA women’s gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics. The 16-year-old qualified after placing fifth in the women’s all-around with an overall score of 111.15 points. Her best performance at the trials came in the balance beam, which she topped with a score of 27.975 points.
#1 Quincy Wilson (16 years)
Quincy Wilson is another teen athlete to watch out for at the Paris Olympics who will be representing the United States. Wilson made it to the Olympic team in the men’s 4x400m relay event after a sixth-place finish in the individual 400m finals at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials.
Wilson impressed track and field fans, clocking thrice below the 45.00s mark at the US Olympic Trials.
