Nick Rusher is an American professional rower. Born and raised in West Bend, Wisconsin, Nick's rowing journey started at an early age. He graduated from Yale University in 2023, where he competed in rowing and gained valuable experience.

Internationally, Nick has represented the USA in the Men's Eight at the World Championships Under 23 in Racice in 2021. The following year, he finished fourth at the 2022 World Championships. In June 2024, Nich earned a spot in the United States Men's Eight for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Nick was born to a rowing-loving family as his parents and sister rowed at the Olympics.

Nick Rusher is the son of Olympian parents, Jack Rusher and Cindy Eckert. His parents met while training and racing together on the National teams of the 1980s and 90s. Jack and Cindy both competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Jack won a bronze medal in the eight at the Seoul Olympics in 1988 while Cindy won a silver medal in the Women's Four at the Barcelona Games in 1992. They even raced together at the Goodwill Games in 1990.

Nick grew up alongside two sisters who are involved in rowing. Both his sisters attended Stanford and one of his sisters - Alie - competed in the quad at the Tokyo Olympics. Nick was initially interested in swimming. However, during high school, he decided to pursue his family legacy of rowing. In an interview with row2k.com, Nick mentioned that his parents never pressured him to take up the sport despite their success in the discipline. He practiced on a pond that was partially frozen, using sticks and sledgehammers to break the ice. His enthusiasm for rowing grew from there, eventually leading him to Yale. Nick’s parents served as head coaches at New Trier High School.

Eckert also won silver in the eight at the 1990 World Championships and silver in the four at the 1991 Worlds. She secured a bronze and two silvers at the Lucerne International Regatta.
