The history of the 100 metres can be traced back to the very first of the modern Olympics in 1896, when it was a spot exclusively for men. Notably, Thomas Burke was the first ever winner of the 100 metre in the Olympics. Notably, the women’s 100 metres was introduced at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Betty Robinson was the first ever women’s winner of the 100 metre at the Olympic.
