Besides rock climbing, she also played volleyball, track, soccer, and cross-country but eventually decided to focus her energies on Speed climbing at the age of 12.
Kelly started competing internationally in 2016 at the International Federation of Sport Climbing World Youth Championships. She ranked fifth in the Youth Divisions. The following year she competed in the Junior division at the World Championships where she ranked sixth. In the year 2017, Kelly participated in the Pan American Youth Championships and clinched the gold medal.
