Spencer Richard Lee born October 14, 1998, is an American freestyle and former folkstyle wrestler competing in 57kg. Hailing from Murrysville, PA, he won titles as a Pan American champion, two-time US National champion, and three-time age-group World champion once at the U17 level and twice at the U20 level. In folkstyle, Lee won the James E. Sullivan Award and the Dan Hodge Trophy twice and got three NCAA Division I national championships while representing the University of Iowa.
Spencer Lee is a three-time NCAA champion. He was awarded the Dan Hodge Trophy for the second consecutive time, shared with Gable Steveson, and was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Year. He graduated with three NCAA Division I National titles, Big Ten Conference titles, and a record of 95–6, then shifted his focus to freestyle wrestling.
In April 2023, Spencer Lee returned to freestyle at the US Open National Championships. After three straight wins, he forfeited the semifinals due to knee issues, placing sixth. Later, he won the Bill Farrell Memorial in November, qualifying for the 2024 US Olympic Trials by defeating Nico Megaludis in the finals. Spencer competed in the US Senior Nationals in December, and won a gold medal. In February, Lee competed internationally for the first time since he last competed in 2016 and won the Pan American title with victories over Olympian Óscar Tigreros and multiple-time Pan American medalist Pedro Mejías. In April, he participated in the US Olympic Team Trials and defeated Nico Megaludis and Zane Richards, and he advanced to the finals against the World champion Thomas Gilman. Spencer won the best-of-three series to secure his spot on the US Olympic Team at 57kg. At the World Qualification Tournament, he qualified the weight class for the United States, securing his participation in the 2024 Summer Olympics by defeating top competitors from Morocco, China, North Macedonia, and Kazakhstan.
