Tara Davis-Woodhall, born on May 20, 1999, is an American track and field athlete who has made a remarkable impact in the world of athletics, excelling in both the 100m hurdles and the long jump events. At just 24 years old, she has already achieved numerous accolades and continues to push the boundaries of her abilities.


Early Years and High School

Woodhall's path to athletics began in her hometown, Agoura Hills, California, where she attended Agoura High School. Her inclinations were clear from an early age, and she quickly made a name for herself in the track and field circuit. In 2017, she broke the American junior record for the indoor long jump, leaping an impressive 6.68 meters (21 feet 10+3⁄4 inches) at the Dumanis Sports Group Prep Classic in Frisco, Texas.


During her senior year at Agoura High School, Woodhall won three CIF California State Meet events. Her wins in the 100m hurdles, clocking an incredible 12.83 seconds (wind-aided), were shy of the National high school record. In addition, she set the State record in the long jump with a remarkable distance of 6.73 meters (22 feet 1 inch), surpassing the previous record held by Olympic legend Marion Jones.


College Career

Tara Davis-Woodhall's talent earned her a spot at the University of Georgia, where she continued to make strides under the guidance of coach Petros Kyprianou. In 2018, she broke the world under-20 record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.98 seconds during the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. In the same meet, she also secured a third-place finish in the long jump, contributing to a University of Georgia sweep.


After a solitary season at Georgia, she transferred to the University of Texas, where she continued to train. In 2021, she set the college record in the long jump with an impressive distance of 7.14 meters at the Texas Relays in Austin, earning her a place among the top long jumpers of all time.

Davis-Woodhall qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics by jumping 7.04 meters at the Olympic Trials in June 2021, securing her spot in the women's long jump event. Despite facing stiff competition, she finished an impressive sixth place in the Olympic final with a best distance of 6.84 meters.


In 2023, Davis-Woodhall at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, she won a silver medal in the women's long jump with a distance of 6.91 meters. Her performance earned her a position as one of the top long jumpers in the world.


The year 2024 brought even more success for Davis-Woodhall, as she won the gold medal in the long jump event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow with an outstanding distance of 7.07 meters.


Personal Life

Tara Davis-Woodhall has also found happiness in her personal life. On October 16, 2022, she married Paralympian Hunter Woodhall, and the couple operates a YouTube channel together, sharing insights into their lives.
