Taylor Averill is a professional indoor volleyball player. He plays as a middle blocker for both Mint Vero Volley Monza and the U.S. Men's National Team. Born on March 5, 1992, in San Jose, California, Taylor started playing volleyball and basketball as a child. His two uncles, who were semi-pro and pro volleyball players, inspired him and trained with him. He went to Branham High School, where he played for the school volleyball club. Later, he moved to UC Irvine in California after being invited by the Team USA coach.

At 20, he got a chance to rejoin the team as a middle blocker and had a breakout season in this new role, after he was removed from the team twice following a drug test fail. He scored 443 points in 31 games, including 151 blocks and 30 aces. Taylor Averill has been playing volleyball with Team USA for over a decade, starting in the youth system. He runs a program to help middle blockers, which includes a 72-minute blocking course, breakdowns of drills to become an attacker, home, and gym workouts, and live monthly meet-ups where he personally answers questions. All these are part of the Middle Blockers Academy, which Taylor Averill and Dustin Watten run. He was selected among the 12 athletes that will make up the United States Men’s Volleyball Team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has won seven individual awards.
