The 28th of April will see the bigshots of the track and field world line up at the Bermuda Grand Prix, lighting up the atmosphere with the electric thrill of competition.
Among others, American stars will be headlining many events of the day, facing each other and international rivals on the soil of the Flora Duffy Stadium. As fans crowd the venue to see track and field's famed names take on each other, here are 10 U.S. athletes you should watch out for.
#10 Cassandra Tate
Cassandra Tate will once again be delighting viewers at the Bermuda Grand Prix, having clinched silver last year at the event. 33-year-old Tate will be taking to the track for the 400m hurdles, where she happens to be a World Championships bronze medalist. The American boasts a PB of 54.01 and has opened her 2024 season on a high.
#9 Donald Scott
Triple-jumper Donald Scott has had an impressive career, delivering enthralling performances on the international stage for nearly a decade now. The 32-year-old is a four-time indoor American champion, two-time outdoor national champion, as well as the 2022 World Indoor Championships bronze medalist.
Scott’s personal best has seen him jump 17.74 m, a feat he first achieved in 2015, and repeated in 2019.
#8 Jasmine Moore
22-year-old Jasmine Moore is a young force to watch out for as we approach the 2024 Paris Olympics. Born and raised in Texas, she is a 7-time NCAA Division I champion, representing the Florida Gators.
In 2022, she scripted history by becoming the first American to qualify for both the triple jump and long jump events at the World Athletics Championships. At the Bermuda Grand Prix, she will be competing in the latter.
#7 Matthew Boling
Matthew Boling will be in action at the 200m sprint at the Flora Duffy Stadium, adding more depth to an already competitive field. In 2023, alongside teammates Justin Robinson, Rosey Effiong, and Alexis Holmes, Boling led America to a mixed 4x400m gold at the World Championships, as well as a world record of 3:08.80.
His Olympic year so far has seen him win a silver at the 4x400m relay at the World Indoor Championships.
#6 Javianne Oliver
Olympic silver medalist Javianne Oliver will be another force to watch out for at the Bermuda Grand Prix. Running the 100m sprint at the competition, she has a personal best of 10.95 in the event.
For her collegiate career, Oliver was a two-time national silver medalist competing for the Kentucky Wildcats. She is also a NACAC Champion and a two-time national champion.
#5 JT Smith
JT Smith will be taking to the track for the 100m sprint at the Bermuda Grand Prix, competing against a field that features many of the world’s top sprinters. Smith is a wonder to watch over the short distances, claiming the national 60m crown in 2023.
Last year, he was also on the American team that won gold in the 4x100m relay at the Budapest World Athletics Championships.
#4 Tamari Davis
Competing in both the 100m and the 200m sprint at the Bermuda Grand Prix, Tamari Davis is bound to give fans a whirlwind of action. The 21-year-old already had a World Championships gold to her name and will be hungry for more as the Olympic Games approach.
#3 PJ Austin
Joining JT Smith in the 100m sprint at the Flora Duffy Stadium will be PJ Austin. The youngster competes in both the long jump and the sprinting events for the Florida Gators on the NCAA circuit, having won a national championship in the former.
In 2023, Austin was one of the ten fastest men in the world, having clocked a 9.97 at the 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships finals.
#2 Abby Steiner
Abby Steiner is scripting a comeback from injury, and she's doing it right. The American will be competing in the 200m at the Bermuda Grand Prix, where she holds an impressive personal best of 21.77. Steiner is a two-time World Champion and the 2022 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships gold medalist.
#1 Noah Lyles
The star of the show at the Bermuda Grand Prix will be Noah Lyles. Competing in the 100m, where he is the reigning World Champion, the American is bound to enthrall the live audience and viewers at home. Lyles has already had a winning start to his 2024 season and will hope to continue that streak on Sunday.
