American athlete and world record-holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone recently set France on fire as she surged to two gold medals at the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics. With triumphs in the Women's 4x400m relay and the 400m hurdles, the University of Kentucky alumna replicated her Tokyo 2020 trophy cabinet in this year's edition of the Summer Games.
Having shattered her own world record six times in the last three years, McLaughlin-Levrone continues to prove why she is the greatest athlete the sport has ever seen. The American set a new best in Paris, racing to victory in 50.37s, 0.28s faster than her own world-high 50.65s set earlier this year.
Further, when she's not on the field improving her already freakish pace, McLaughlin-Levrone is busy establishing her online presence through high-profile sponsorships. Here are five major brand endorsements the American hurdler and sprinter has secured on her track to glory.
Five top brands that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has endorsed this year
New Balance (since 2018)
Being USA's youngest track-and-field athlete in 64 years, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Kentucky and competed for them from 2017-18. But just a year after joining, she forfeited her eligibility and turned pro.
In this process, a bidding war ensued for the track phenom who was soon to be an Olympic medalist and the fastest woman ever to run the 400m hurdles.
American footwear giant New Balance was quick to offer McLaughlin-Levrone a massive $1.5 million contract, making her one of the highest-paid track and field athletes at the time. She was delighted with the partnership as she announced the deal in a press release and said:
"I'm thrilled to join the Team New Balance family, a brand that not only shares the same values and principles that are important to me, but also supports its athletes on and off the track."
TAG Heuer (since 2021)
Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has some of the world's biggest athletes on its roster. Its motto, "Don't crack under pressure" exemplifies the company's ethos and why they partner with some of the biggest athletes on the planet. The list includes the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Naomi Osaka, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Summer McIntosh.
Add Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone to that, and the watchmaker has the perfect partner in the reigning Olympic champion with her passion for speed, precision and greatness.
Gatorade (since 2016)
Every athlete needs their fuel and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is no exception. After turning pro and etching her name in the history books, she has been raking in endorsement deals including putting pen to paper with Gatorade.
However, this wasn't McLaughlin-Levrone's first interaction with the sports drink behemoth as she was named the Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 2015-16 and 2016-17. The annual award recognises male and female high-school athletes in several sports.
Gatorade also recently revived its iconic "Is It In You?" campaign from the 1990s. The new rendition features a 60-second video narrated by basketball legend Michael Jordan and also features McLaughlin-Levrone.
Neutrogena (since 2023)
Self-care is a crucial part of an athlete's life. Fittingly, American cosmetics and skin-care company Neutrogena unveiled the 24-year-old Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone as new face in a campaign video in 2023.
Natasha Haubrich, Head of Equity and Strategy at the company, was over the moon with her organization's latest ambassador and said:
"We have loved watching Sydney’s success over the years and cannot wait to continue to grow as a brand with her by our side."
The four-time Olympic gold medalist joined artists Jenna Ortega and Halle Bailey as one of the American brand's ambassadors.
VISA (2024)
Global payment card services titan Visa has a long history of roping in big athletes to promote their brand. Since 2000, it has backed more than 650 Olympians and Paralympians, including 145 who participated at the Paris Olympics.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was the face of a Visa collaboration with Google Pay ahead of the Olympics, with her sponsor taking to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to congratulate the American as she broke her own world record and became the first person to win back-to-back gold medals in the women's 400m hurdles at the 2024 Games.
