For Sha'Carri Richardson, 2024 was the season that changed it all. Nobody would have believed that an athlete, whose career nearly came to an end in 2020, would bounce back in style to win two back-to-back Olympic medals.

But that's Richardson for you. 2024 was not just one of the greatest seasons for the 24-year-old athlete, but also that re-established her as one of the most prominent track and field athletes for not just USA, but the entire world.

#5) Richardson's victory at Olympic Trials

After she had missed out on the Tokyo Olympics due to a year's suspension, the US Olympic Trials for the Paris Olympics 2024 were almost make or break for Sha'Carri Richardson.

She achieved her Olympic ticket in style, clocking a world-leading time of 10.71 seconds at the US Olympic Trials, ensuring her direct qualification for the quadrennial event to be held in Paris.

Apart from her athletic prowess, Richardson is also well known for her fashion sense. At the Paris Olympics, she attracted everyone's attention with her long nails, that had a customized design.

The nails were painted in blue, red, and white, representing the colors of the American flag. However, this wasn't the first time that Richardson had flaunted these customized nail designs. When she made her appearance on the cover of Vogue magazine, Richardson first displayed her customized nails, which were inspired by the Olympic legend, Florence Griffith-Joyner.


#3) Richardson's Nike AirMax Dn campaign

In April 2024, Richardson had campaigned for the sportswear brand Nike as a part of her 5 year, $20 million contract. She was seen wearing customized shoes that were designed for the Paris Olympics. Richardson popularized the shoes to the extent that many wanted to buy it, just because the American sprinter had worn it once.


#2) Essence Magazine Cover

Life had come a full circle for Richardson, when she was announced to be featured on the cover of the iconic 'Essence Magazine' for the January 2025 issue. This was a magazine to which the athlete was emotionally connected, thanks to her grandmother's fondness for the same.

"My experience here today, being on essence cover is an honor. I feel like the little girl inside me has, like, achieved something that we only saw in the magazines. Like, we only saw, like on TV, so it's an honor. It even reminds me of a moment of having with my grandmother. I actually remember her reading Essence when I was younger, so full circle moment to just be here, be on the cover, these beautiful looks and beautiful people," mentioned Richardson in an interview with Essence magazine.

The greatest moments for Sha'Carri Richardson in 2024 were undoubtedly from the Paris Olympics. The 24-year-old sprinter made her debut in the women's 100m event, and was all set to clinch a gold medal. However, St. Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred had the last laugh as she ran her way to Olympic glory, and Richardson eventually had to settle for the silver medal.

Though she had lost, Richardson was far from being dejected. She ran the anchor leg in the women's 4x100m relay final, and despite a shaky handover from Gabby Thomas, she sprinted her way to a historic Olympic gold medal.
