The Paris Olympics 2024 torch has been carried by many big names, as celebrities and sports stars from across the globe gathered to celebrate the upcoming Games. The torch relay is a ceremonial and an important part of this marquee event, and is often celebrated with much gusto.
As is tradition, the torch for the Paris Olympics was lit in Olympia, Greece and has since journeyed across the Mediterranean as it slowly makes its way to its final destination. With that, here's a look at the most famous celebrities who have been a part of the 2024 torch relay so far.
#5. Shaun White
Shaun White carried the Paris Olympics 2024 torch at Alpes-Maritimes during Stage 34. The American snowboarder competed internationally for nearly two decades, garnering a long list of achievements. White was also a professional skateboarder.
As a snowboarder, the American clinched three gold medals, all in the halfpipe event. He won his maiden crown at the 2006 Games, defending his title in 2010, before claiming one final gold in 2018. He also competed as a skateboarder during the 2020 Olympics, making him the first person to compete in both the Summer and Winter Games.
#4. Sue Bird
American basketball legend and WNBA star Sue Bird was one of the most famous athletes to carry the Paris Olympic 2024 torch this summer. The 43-year-old was a part of the relay at Stage 34, in the Alpes-Maritimes.
As a basketball player, Bird stood out from her college days, clinching two NCAA titles with the UConn team. She began her WNBA career in 2002 as the number one overall pick, being chosen by the Seattle Storm. The American spent two decades with the storm, winning four championships in that time period.
As a Team USA player, Bird won five Olympic golds between 2004 and 2020, and four World Cups.
#3. Megan Rapino
American Megan Rapino was also a part of the Paris Olympics 2024 torch relay at the Alpes-Maritimes. The footballer had a gloried career with the U.S National Team, serving as co-captain alongside Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan between 2018 and 2020.
Rapino first major international victory came at the 2011 World Cup, where the American took silver as part of the US team. A year later, the footballer was added Olympic champion to her resume at the London Games. Rapino and her teammates were crowned World Champions in 2015, a title they would successfully defend four years later.
#2. Charles Leclerc
F1 driver Charles Leclerc was another sports star who was a part of the Paris Olympics 2024 torch relay at Stage 34. The Monagascue joined the racing circuit in 2018 as a part of Suaber, before shifting to Ferrari a year later.
With the Scuderia, Leclerc has 35 podiums, 24 pole positions, nine fastest laps, and six victories. In 2022, he finished second in the Drivers Championships behind longtime rival and friend Max Verstappen, marking his best finish in F1. The Monagascue's last win came on home ground in 2023 when he stormed to the Monaco Grand Prix win.

Halle Berry was yet another celebrity name to join the Paris Olympic 2024 torch relay at the Alpes-Maritimes. The American is widely known for her portrayal of Storm in the X-Men movies, as well as playing the titular character in Catwoman.
In 1999, Berry won her first major award, a Golden Globe for her role in the movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. She also won a Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Primetime Emmy for the same movie.
In 2000, the actress became the first African-American woman to win an Academy Award after she was bestowed with the honor for her role in the movie Monster’s Ball.
