Sha'Carri Richardson once revealed how the sport of track and field affected her personality. She credited the sport for unleashing her energetic and vibrant side.
On the Running Things podcast in October 2020, Richardson was asked about her enthusiastic side while giving interviews, even after running a race, and whether it had been the same since she was a kid. The American sprint star responded to this by crediting the track for bringing out this side.
She admitted to being quiet as a child and showing her energetic personality only to those close to her. However, Richardson added how the track turned her into a more confident person. During the podcast, she said:
“Actually, I feel like track brought it out. Younger girl was a little quiet. If you got to know me, you saw me. You saw this side. But if you didn't know me enough, no. I think track definitely was that shell that brought me out because it kind of brought, like I said, popularity to me. When I was like, 'to me, that was kind of me.' I was that track girl, that fast girl.' So, it kind of slowly brought me out of a bubble.” (starting at 17:19 onwards)
Sha'Carri Richardson added:
“Not saying, I was shy naturally but it's just like I was just to myself and it just brought me out of a bubble and it just exposed me to different things and just experienced the different things, different people just brought me right out this, Sha'Carri.”

“All I needed to do was execute. I knew I could do it, and I did.”
Although she missed out on a spot in the Tokyo Olympics squad last time, she returned from Paris with two medals, including a gold in the 4x100m relay and a silver in the individual 100m.
