The popular over-the-top streaming platform Netflix finally dropped the trailer for their track and field-based docuseries 'Sprint' featuring Sha'Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and several others. They have partnered with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the show.
The series is made by the same team that produced the popular Formula 1-based documentary 'Drive to Survive.' Sprint will cover the various happenings in the track and field domain, from the 2023 World Championships to the Paris Olympics 2024.
Apart from Sha'Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles of the United States, the show will also feature athletes across various nations like Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Italy, etc.
As per reports from Citius Mag, the series will contain two seasons, in which the first part will cover the athletes preparing for the 2023 World Championships, while season two will focus on their build-up to the Paris Olympics 2024.
The first season will have a total of six episodes of 45 minutes each, while the second one will have four episodes of the same duration. The documentary is scheduled to be released on July 2, just ahead of the summer Olympics.
World Athletics shared the trailer of the show on their X handle (formerly Twitter) on Friday and wrote:
"The wait is over. SPRINT, coming to @netflix on 2 July."
One of the key highlights of the trailer is Sha'Carri Richardson saying:
"Being my biggest critic, I have learned to use it as motivation."
What the co-founder of the production house had to say about Sha'Carri Richardson, and others' 'Sprint'
The series based on Sha'Carri Richardson and others will be brought to life by Paul Martin, James Gay-Rees, the co-founders of Box to Box Production House, and Warren Smith, the head of the sports and factual departments at Box to Box.
They have already delivered successful projects like Drive to Survive, Break Point, a tennis-based documentary, and Full Swing, a show that documented various aspects of golf and its athletes.
Talking about Sprint and athletes like Sha'Carri Richardson, Paul Martin stated (via Citius Mag):
"We're just finishing what I think is an extraordinary show about 100m and 200m runners. We were lucky enough to follow a group of athletes up to and including the World Championships in Budapest."
He further added:
"We're going to follow that same group of athletes up to the Paris Olympics, which is amazing. It's a really amazing show. We had great access to Noah Lyles, Sha'Carri Richardson, Jamaican sprinters, and Gabby Thomas."
Without giving the spoilers, Martin also added that there is one particular scene in the show that made him emotional, and he can't wait for the fans to watch it. He claims it as one of his team's best works yet.
