The top high school wrestlers of the US will soon be in action at Who's Number One as each of them tries to establish themselves as the best wrestler in the nation. The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 29, and will provide a large number of exciting bouts.

On the girls' end of things, one thrilling bout will see Janiyah Johnson and Sarah Pulk take on each other in the 150-pound event. Johnson is the youngest wrestler at the competition, and while she entered the National Championships unranked, she left undefeated as the rightful owner of a Fargo stop sign. On the way to that win, she took down Pulk, who will now be looking for revenge.

Elsewhere in the 125-pound category, audiences will have a chance to witness history, as Everest Leydecker tries to become the first woman to win three consecutive Who's Number One titles. Leydecker was a part of the 2024 U18 World Team and clinched gold at the 2024 U17 and 2024 U20 PanAm Championships. Standing between her and her third title is Me'Kala James, the newly crowned U16 National Champion.

Meanwhile, on the boys' side, the 144 pounds category will bring an old rivalry back to life as Bo Basset and Daniel Zepeda battle each other in a rematch of their Who's Number One battle last year. In 2023, Zepeda had taken down Bassett, but his Bishop McCort opponent has gone undefeated since then, winning the Super 32, Ironman, Powerade, PIAAs, the US Open, the U20 World Team Trials, and the U20 Pan Am Championships.
