Big Brother season 26 released its latest episode on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Three nominees Joseph, Rubina, and Kimo were on the block and at risk of going home. The stakes were raised after Rubina won the AI Arena challenge and removed herself from harm's way.
Joseph and Kimo campaigned for themselves, hoping to influence the houseguests to let them stay in the house for another week. While Joseph believed he had stronger connections than Kimo, being Head of Household (HoH) Quinn's ally, Kimo feared his friendship with T'Kor and Rubina could not save him from getting eliminated.
In a major turn of events, Joseph received the majority votes and was evicted from the Big Brother house. In an episode of The Exclusive with Sharon Tharp, published on YouTube on September 6, the houseguest revisited his elimination.
"It's been a crazy season, so I think there's been a lot of flipping and flopping near the end and it sounds like, from what I hear that it was actually very close, that I was staying," Joseph said.
Joseph received four votes against him, while Kimo had three. Two cast members, Chelsie and Makensy, whom Joseph and Quinn trusted, flipped their votes in the final minutes, sending Joseph home.
Big Brother star Joseph believes his allies failed to understand the game
When host Sharon Tharp asked Joseph if he felt betrayed by the cast members, whom he trusted with his safety in the house, he said:
"It would be foolish of me to feel betrayed by anybody."
He confessed that from the show's start, he strategized and schemed with multiple houseguests to secure his position in the game. He explained he did not feel betrayed since he also lied to them "the whole summer." Everyone did whatever benefitted their gameplay and he was at peace with that.
Reflecting on his "downfall," the Big Brother cast member admitted there was "hubris" on his part. After Quinn became the HoH, Joseph was confident he was safe for the week, since he had good ties with him and his team. As a result, he proudly told Angela that her days in the house were numbered.
However, everything changed when the HoH nominated Joseph on the block as Angela's replacement. Quinn was confident Joseph had nothing to worry about. Looking back on the decisions made, Joseph said:
"A little bit of hubris on my part, a little bit of stupidity from my allies."
He added that luck played a part in his eviction since he failed to win the AI Arena challenge. Although he did not mind not making it to the jury, he regretted not playing the "real Big Brother."
"What stung in the moment was knowing I never got to play real Big Brother that we're doing the three nominees and everything like that and then once I leave we're going back down to two," Joseph stated.
The cast member said he would never be on the block if only two people had to be nominated. He claimed Quinn would have voted for Angela and Kimo, and kept Rubina as the replacement.
Although it was "frustrating," realizing how close he was to staying in the competition, he admitted he did not "really care about jury." He said he would have lost his sanity if he remained a moment longer with the houseguests.
When asked if he purposely lost the AI Arena challenge, Joseph revealed he lost because he was "genuinely terrible." He confessed the only game he purposely lost was The Wall because he knew he could not win it.
Towards the end of the interview, Joseph confessed he would never play Big Brother because it was "super stressful, anxiety-inducing," and "heartbreaking a lot of times."
Big Brother season 26 will return with a new episode on CBS on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
