Love is Blind has become one of Netflix's most talked-about reality shows. In it, singles connect without seeing each other, hoping to form a deep emotional bond. In season 7, Marissa’s journey on the show captured a lot of attention, particularly her connection with Ramses.

A year after filming, Marissa opened up about her experience on Nick Viall's podcast, revealing how much therapy she had done before and after the show. Reflecting on her time on Love is Blind, she said,

"It's been a year, and I've done a lot of therapy. Before and after the filming. Something I realized that's so obvious is how people-pleasing I can be and how compromising to my own values I am."

Marissa openly discussed her experience throughout the show. She took her time and space to deal with the emotional challenges she faced during and after filming Love is Blind's season 7.

Reflecting on the conversations with Ramses in Love is Blind

During the podcast, host Nick Viall brought up one of the more controversial moments from the show, the se* conversation between Marissa and Ramses. Nick expressed how, at first, he liked Ramses for being in touch with his feelings but was surprised by how the conversation about birth control and period se* unfolded.

As Nick pointed out, Ramses seemed unaware of basic topics like these, which was surprising given his age and the fact that he was previously married. He asked Marissa for her thoughts on the matter, to which she responded that, in person, the conversation didn’t feel as shocking as it appeared on-screen. Marissa replied,

"I’m a bubbly person who doesn’t think before speaking, but in that moment, I fell quiet because I was trying to understand where it was coming from."

Marissa admitted that watching the conversation back did give her a different perspective. “It didn’t look good,” she said. While Ramses may not have intended the conversation to come across as it did, the third-person view of watching it later made her uneasy. She clarified that more than shock, she felt annoyed during the filming as she tried to process Ramses' intentions.

Addressing the editing part and military conversation in Love is Blind

Nick also asked Marissa if she felt the editing affected how the conversations were perceived. He suggested that some scenes might be taken out of context or manipulated during the editing process. Marissa, however, didn’t completely blame the edit.

She explained that while the show didn’t air their full conversation, which ended with a discussion on vasectomies, she still recalled feeling uneasy during those moments. Marissa shared how external factors like travel, vitamin D deficiency, and PMS affected her moods during filming, adding another layer to her challenges.

A significant moment discussed during the podcast was the conversation about Marissa’s military service, which she described as judgmental.

"I felt judged while having the military conversation," she said, noting how Ramses’ reaction rubbed her the wrong way.

Off-camera, Marissa addressed the issue with Ramses, telling him how his comments made her feel. Despite her attempts to vocalize her feelings, Marissa struggled to navigate the conversation at the time due to a mix of emotions and perceived judgment.

Reflecting on that scene, Marissa shared that she has continued therapy since filming, which has helped her process the whole experience. Nick thanked her for her service and expressed that he didn’t like the way Ramses handled that conversation either.
