Most fans of Dancing With the Stars might be aware of the viral dance move where Danny Amendola lifts his partner Witney Carson with one leg as the latter arches her back. That is because the dance move went viral on TikTok with a whopping 11 million views! The said move was performed in episode 5, which aired on October 15.

Copies of people trying to replicate the move soon followed, turning the popularity of the move into an internet takeover. They came up with versions of the step and praised Danny and Witney for choreographing and executing it so perfectly.

The duo broke their silence about how they feel about the move going viral in a video interview on Good Morning America, on October 25. Talking about it, Superbowl star Danny Amendola said:

"I didn't know what viral was. I thought my algorithm was freaking out".

The move with the countless TikTok imitations was in contemporary dance style and was performed on the song Unsteady by X Ambassadors, The Erich Lee Gravity Remix.

It was choreographed by Witney Carson, a Dancing With the Stars professional who has been around since season 18 of the show, marking the current season 33 as her 14th season.

She said:

"That leg move was very unique and special to Danny and I, and we just, we had no idea".

Amendola shared her disbelief and said that even he thought it was his algorithm that was playing tricks on him. The dance from the viral move had earned them the top scores of the night.

The said performance was given in Week 5 of the current season of Dancing With the Stars which aired on October 15, and the theme was Dedication Night.

On Good Morning America, their co-contestants Ilona Maher, the Rugby player, and professional Alan Bernsten tried doing the move in a hilarious turn of events.

Good Morning America meteorologists Ginger Zee and Sam Champion also joined the fun alongside their co-anchor Michael Strahan.

Despite Ginger and Sam's previous Dancing With the Stars experience, they proved that the move wasn't so easy. After attempting the move, Zee jokingly said:

"You guys, we need like a week!"

The viral TikTok trend now also comes with a sign that warns the participants of the hurt it could cause them or others involved. Amendola also explained the dance move, saying the hardest part for the male was to keep the woman balanced as she was coming up, while the hardest part for the female was to keep her bottom leg straight.

Danny Amendola urged the people who wanted to effectively do the dance step to watch their tutorial video first. They made this video available on TikTok to help people finish the trend. He said:

"It's on our TikTok. So, if you do want to try it, you should go look at the tutorial and just really know the proper things before you try it".

In the tutorial, Witney Carson explained that the ladies should make sure their bottom leg is straight for a proper balance, and the back arches to further strengthen the balance. Amendola added that the ladies' foot should be at the bottom of the men's foot on the ground.
