The Masked Singer reached its popularity levels because of its unique, never-seen-before format, which had celebrities singing behind larger-than-life costumes. With two seasons of the coveted show running every year since 2019, The Masked Singer has already made it to season 12, which premiered in September this year.
Out of the 15 celebrity contestants of the season, 5 are already eliminated and Andy Richter is the freshest addition. The late-night talk show host and the star of his own FOX show, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, was revealed as the face behind Dust Bunny on episode 4, released on October 16.
After his big reveal, Andy detailed his journey on The Masked Singer in an interview with Parade. He also talked about the time when he almost kicked the cameraman in the face and fell over because of his costume. He said:
"I just totally kicked the cameraman in the face, and almost fell over. I can't see anything!"

The interviewer specifically wanted to know the mobility aspect of the costume and Andy's experience with it. He explained it with an incident on set that had occurred when the camera crew was trying to get a low-angle shot of him from four feet away.
He said they had kept a camera on the floor in front of him and asked him to walk so they could get the low-angle shot. But as he couldn't see anything under his eyeline area, and had a blind spot for about six feet, he almost kicked the cameraman in the face and fell over. He added that someone probably got told off for thinking it was a good idea.
"Whenever I move from one place to the other, I was being helped like an invalid, just two people on either side, slowly walking me," Andy said.
What else did Andy say about his time on The Masked Singer season 12?
The interviewer wanted to know why Andy decided to be on The Masked Singer and if he was asked to join it before. He said he was offered the show before but he denied it because he had too much on his plate then, but took it up this time because he was running free.
He then admired the "cute and gross" quality of his costume Dust Bunny, and revealed that he didn't have a say in choosing it. He said the construction of his costume wasn't very claustrophobic because it was a simpler costume than some of the ones he had seen.
Talking about his Sweet Caroline moment right on the day of his elimination, Andy said that singing it helped him with his insecurities. This was because it was a singalong song and the audience singing with him helped because he was a non-singer.
Reacting to the judges' guesses, Andy said that he didn't mind the judges wrongly guessing him as Jay Leno because they were judging a "big pile of purple fur". He believed that if he stayed on for one more episode, the judges would've figured out who he was.
Lastly, he said he would love to see other talk show hosts such as Conan, and Colbert on the show. He added Jon Stewart also would be a great addition and thought it would be a good surprise to see him revealed from under a mask.
The Masked Singer season 12 releases new episodes every Wednesday at 8 pm on FOX.
