America's Got Talent: Brent Street earns Howie Mandel's Golden Buzzer

America's Got Talent season 19 aired a brand new episode this week on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. An array of talented individuals and groups took to the AGT stage to showcase their talents in this audition episode. While viewers saw several unique performances, one in particular blew the judges away, especially Howie Mandel.

Brent Street, from Sydney, Australia, was one of the dance crews who auditioned for the show in the latest segment. Crewmate Zach represented the dance group, which performed to Hope by NF and earned Howie Mandel's Golden Buzzer during Tuesday's episode of the talent show.

Speaking to People's Magazine about the Golden Buzzer, Zach said:

"Getting Howie’s Golden Buzzer was a dream come true! I felt a mixture of complete shock and extreme joy. My heart rate tripled and all of a sudden, I was overcome with emotions."

All about Brent Street's America's Got Talent season 19 audition

Brent Street, a dance group from Sydney, Australia, appeared on America's Got Talent season 19 during episode 4, which aired on June 25, 2024. As Zach represented the group ahead of the performance, judges believed it was a solo act but were surprised when the 17-year-old requested for the lights to be turned off.

The crowd as well as the judges were initially confused and wondered what was happening and who was on the stage. When the song started playing, Zach emerged from within a black sheet, and several hands followed before another dancer appeared.

Eventually, a huge group joined the dancers, and they performed to Hope by American rapper NF. Terry Crews cheered them on from backstage while Howie Mandel stared at them with his mouth open. The audience cheered, and the judges gave the America's Got Talent season 19 contestants a standing ovation.

As for the judges' feedback, Heidi Klum said:

"Oh my God, Zach, that was so exciting. I mean, you came with more friends of yours from Australia, I'm assuming. Hi everyone, this was a very very very very exciting dance. Beautiful. It was also something we haven't seen before."

Sofia Vergara noted that as judges, they get to see a lot of dancing on America's Got Talent and that her "favorite part" on the NBC show was being able to witness what people can do with their bodies. She called the beginning of the dance crew's season 19 audition "spectacular" and added that the rest of the performance was as good. Vergara further mentioned that Brent Street's dance routine was "for sure the coolest thing" she had seen all day.

Simon Cowell was impressed with the performance and what the group did with their "bodies" and "brains." He noted that the performance was "really well thought out" and creative.

"Even though there was a lot of you, it was almost like there was just one I'm guessing this took months and months to prepare, right?" Cowell added.

The America's Got Talent season 19 judge said he could see just how much it meant to each of them to be selected for AGT. Finally, it was time for Howie to give his feedback, but the judge was nowhere to be seen. Talking from beneath the judges' desk, he said,

"Yeah, I thought everything you did was amazing. It was a surprise."

The judge suddenly appeared from under the table, with a single hand imitating the group's performance and pressing the Golden Buzzer. Mandell made his way to the stage and congratulated the group and Zach.

Howie later spoke to People Magazine about his ducking beneath the table act ahead of his feedback, saying he was just "replicating" what blew him away. He said he saw Zach standing on the stage and thought he was going to dance, recalling the AGT contestant "stuck" in the black sheet and noting how nobody else was there.

"Then boom, hands came out of nowhere, and they were dancing. So I kind of just, in my mind, replicated what I was so excited about. Out of nowhere, the hand comes out, pops up, and gives you the ticket to move on," Howie said.

America's Got Talent season 19 will return next week with another episode on NBC at 8 pm ET on Tuesday.
