America's Got Talent: Former contestant Perry Kurtz passes away at 73

America's Got Talent star and comedian Perry Kurtz tragically passed away in a car accident on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The Los Angeles Police Department stated in a press release the very next day that Kurtz was on the main road in Tarzana, California. They also shared details of the incident which took place around eleven in the morning.

The police tracked down a major suspect, an 18-year-old, whose vehicle was abandoned at the incident scene. On August 16, Kurtz's manager, Dante Rusciolelli, told People Magazine about the accident and confirmed the comedian's death aged 73.

In a heartfelt statement, Rusciolelli shared that he knew Kurtz personally and had been very close to him since 1987 so he was more than just a client. He added:

“Rest in peace Perry Kurtz. Golden Artists Entertainment and myself are devastated by this news. Perry was not only a client, he’s been my friend since 1987. He has been a staple in the Los Angeles comedy community for decades and will be missed. Our prayers are with his family."

NBC fans might remember Perry Kurtz from America's Got Talent season 8 where he managed to win the hearts of many viewers. Kurtz made a lasting impression on AGT judges Heidi Klum, Howard Stern, and Mel B, on stage and gained a massive fan following during his time on the show.

Despite not staying in the competition for long, Kurtz entertained the in-house audience with a fun rap he performed in front of the judges. Perry Kurtz couldn't head to the next round of America's Got Talent and did not receive a yes.

He continued to pursue his career as a comedian at various performance stages. Perry shared his experience in the August 13, 2024 video on the reality show and how he felt. His audition's video description read:

“Howard had prewritten mean jokes, to which I heckled him back and got laughs from the crowd. They gave me no mic stand, strange music, and shut my mic off to 2/3 of the audience when I started to sing, THEN told the crowd to stand up and boo me. Welcome to reality TV.”

He amassed 1.87K subscribers on his YouTube channel where he used to post music content and videos linked to standup comedy. Born in Philadelphia, Perry moved to LA, and resided in San Francisco before. He also appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The America's Got Talent participant had more than one thousand followers on his Instagram account. Kurtz gathered a following and likability for his unique sense of humor. In his bio, He descibed himself as:
