America's Got Talent, a popular reality TV competition, returned for its 19th season on May 28, 2024. The show was originally broadcast on NBC and welcomed participants to audition for any sort of talent ranging from singing, dancing, comedy, painting, and more. The show selects the participants via multiple rounds of audience before they finally make it on air.

The first round of auditions is the producers' round, and whoever gets past that gets to be on the Television for Judges' round. The audition taken by the producers can be in person or the virtual tape that the contestants can send in. For this year, the in-person auditions were held on February 4, 2024, in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Convention Center.

The official synopsis of the America's Got Talent reads:

"Going for the gold! World-class judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel and beloved host Terry Crews are back with an all-new season of awe-inspiring talent and jaw-dropping, Golden Buzzer-worthy moments. Also streaming on Peacock.

How to apply for America's Got Talent

The audition for season 19 of America's Got Talent was held on February 4, 2024, in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Convention Center. The first round of auditions called for entries for in-person auditions at the center, and for those who could not make it there, the official America's Got Talent site, americasgottalentauditions.com, welcomed virtual audience tapes.

Before going for the Judges' round that the audience sees on broadcast, the participants audition for the producers' round where they are judged based on their talent.

The participants who audition by sending their virtual tapes must make sure to create their own performer profile even if they have an existing one from last season.

The participants who are below 18 are allowed to send their audition videos via their parents or guardian only on their behalf.

On October 24, 2023, the manager of the network's unscripted formats, Theresa Graham, told NBC Insider about the audition process in an interview. She said:

"We have open call auditions virtually to reach as many people as possible. Anybody can sign up and have an audition with our casting team and producers. If they think that somebody is worth considering, they put them through to our executive producers. After they say yes, then the Act will go to audition in front of the Judges. We all see everything play out from there."

She also talked about who should be going for the auditor, and her answer was, 'Everyone'. She described that as this is a variety completion, all that matters is if you have got any talent. She said:

"Because it's a variety show, they want to make sure they’re finding the best singers, dancers, contortionists, and more. Anybody with any talent can audition. We want the best of the best, no matter what the talent is and no matter who they are."

She added:

"So we encourage everybody with any talent to audition, and if it’s something that we love, something that we think America will love, we will put them in front of the Judges. We just want to represent America and the great and diverse talent that we have out there."

The next round of auditions is when the participants are in front of the judges and finally will be on TV. Here the judges decide who they want in the show. Participants must get three 'Yes' to be in the show.

The judges have the power to give the Golden Buzzer, the greatest honor of America's Got Talent. The trick to getting the Golden Buzzer is simple, impress the judges.

For season 19, the line-up of the judges is the same as the previous season- Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofía Vergara, and the show is hosted by Terry Crews.

America's Got Talent season 19 is available on NBC and Peacock to watch. Fans can tune in to NBC to watch the Quarterfinals on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
