Matt Franco won $1 million as America's Got Talent season 9 winner

Born on May 10, 1988, the 36-year-old magician caught viewers' attention when he appeared on the ninth season of America's Got Talent. His skill-based sleight-of-hand magic left a lasting impression on the judges and the viewers. He won the season and became the first magician to clinch the winner's title.

As America's Got Talent season 9's winner, he was awarded $1 million and a headlining show at The Linq Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After 2014, he returned to the casino in 2015 and started headlining in a show titled, Mat Franco: Magic Reinvented Nightly. Although the exact number is unknown, it is believed that his net worth has been boosted ever since he became a permanent performer at The Linq.

In 2016, his show was awarded the title of "Best Show" on the Las Vegas Strip in the "Las Vegas Weekly Readers' Choice Awards." In 2017, the hotel changed the theater's name to "Mat Franco Theatre." Las Vegas presented the magician with the key to the Las Vegas Strip to honor his legacy and talent. They also declared July 10 "Mat Franco Day."

Mat made several guest appearances on talk shows, such as The Ellen Degeneres Show, Access Hollywood, and The Today Show. Mat was featured as the guest performer in the latest episode of America's Got Talent. His magic routine was inspired by suggestions from fans and judges.

He shocked the judges by correctly guessing the card number they randomly picked. One suggestion requested that Mat give someone magic power. He used an audience member as an assistant and placed a coin on their palm. He then made the coin flip on its own, taking everyone by surprise.

At the climax of his act, he revealed the writing on a board where he previously predicted that he would "read minds", "give someone magic powers," and "predict the future" as part of his performance on AGT. Everyone inside the auditorium cheered and applauded the magician's skills.

America's Got Talent season 19 will return with another episode on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
