The last set of episodes from Too Hot to Handle's sixth season was released on August 2. Despite a turbulent journey, Bri and DeMari were named the season's winning couple.
Out of the 16 candidates in Too Hot to Handle season 6, only three were declared the winners. Among them were Gianna Pettus (not breaking a single rule), Bri Balram, and DeMari Davis, who eventually started dating.
However, currently Too Hot to Handle stars Bri and DeMari consider themselves on a break. That doesn't imply that their romance, or "BriMari," as some fans have dubbed it, is over. Rather, they are still attempting to see how things go in real life.
Like many reality TV show romances, their experiences in real life are drastically different from what they had imagined. Speaking to People magazine on August 2, DeMari admitted it was complicated. He stated:
“We’re working on things … It was real in there, but it was such a small window. So we’ve really have been trying to learn each other on the outside [and] figure things out."
Although Bri Balram and DeMari Davis were appreciative that their time on Too Hot to Handle introduced them, they are still figuring out how to live beyond the show. While Bri said:
"We do still have our disagreements about what's going on on the screen, we're reflecting on past things. So all these old emotions are starting to come up... it's the up-and-downs right now, but we are still on our journey of BriMari."
What happened between Too Hot to Handle season 6 winners Bri and DeMari?
They became romantically involved on the first day of the show, but Bri was banished because she had kissed both Chris and DeMari. Then, DeMari expressed interest in Flavia, but their relationship never materialized since Flavia had other interests.
Newcomer Valentina was put on a date with DeMari when Bri was banished to the Too Hot to Handle zone, again. He ultimately planted a kiss on Valentina, the new girl, souring his relationship with her. But he apologized after realizing how he felt about Bri. Following a heated exchange, Bri caved in, and the two started dating.
Bri was still afraid that DeMari could hurt her again, even though DeMari told her on their romantic last date that she was the kind of girl that his older brother dreamed he'd find. Her anxieties are allayed when DeMari asks her to be his girlfriend and swears to give her his whole attention.
In the epilogue, Lana names the pair, along with Katherine and Charlie, as finalists for the $100,000 prize pool. The other retreat participants vote for Bri and DeMari as the couple that has changed the most. With a majority of votes, the new couple won the money.
Though the filming was wrapped with them being in a committed relationship, the two say things have shifted a bit since then. Bri told People publication about how the differences in the timezone made things difficult.
"At first when we came out the villa, it seemed fairly easy because we were FaceTiming every night, but he is on a different time zone, so it did start to get really difficult," She explained.
She went on to say that DeMari showed "delayed reactions" from their time on the show. She further added:
"he told me that he was having delayed reactions from the whole experience, and so we just decided to take a break, separate for a little bit and we actually weren't speaking for a while."
To better comprehend their thoughts, they made the decision to take a break and be apart for a while after the end of season 6 of Too Hot to Handle.
