On August 14, 2024, Love Island star Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague announced that they had parted ways. Fans might remember them as one of the couples from season 5 of ITV2 dating reality show. Their relationship bloomed and lasted for five years.
However, the couple faced speculations surrounding their recent announcement. On October 10, 2024, Tommy appeared on British daytime chat show This Morning where he addressed the backlash and rumors about him allegedly not being loyal to his partner. Fury shared that he faced a "tough" time after they both went their separate ways.
While talking about the critics, the Love Island star clarified that he respected Molly and would never reveal details of their relationship to the public. Tommy elaborated that he valued privacy and planned on resolving his personal issues in a private manner. In his Instagram statement, Tommy stated that his "priority" was his and Molly's daughter Bambi.
During his appearance on the ITV show, Tommy admitted that the criticism he was facing was a "bandwagon" everyone wanted to jump on. He continued:
"Everyone will point the finger when there's a bandwagon to jump on, but at the end of the day, out of respect to Molly and out of respect to myself, and you know, our relationship and to us, I'm gonna let us deal with that in private as much as we can."
"Leave all that stuff for me and Molly to work through" —Love Island star Tommy Fury opens up about his split
Previously there had been rumors about Tommy cheating on his fiancée which upset him as the couple was working towards co-parenting their daughter amidst the split. During an interview with People Magazine on August 16, 2024, the professional boxer stated he was "horrified by the false allegations of cheating being circulated by the media."
In his ITV interview, the Love Island star emphasized on keeping details of his breakup private despite being in the public eye all the time. He said:
"I'm gonna leave all that stuff for me and Molly to work through. A lot of stuff has been put out there, the whole world's seen what we've been going through for the past month, two months, however long it's been."
During the conversation, Tommy also discussed his upcoming memoir Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as Fury. He shared that he added a "last chapter" about his feelings and thoughts regarding the split and how he coped up during that "tough time." He continued:
"What I did is I talked about all my feelings leading up [to the split and how I've felt during this time. In there, I've talked about my feelings in the past two months, and it has been tough."
The couple took to their Instagram stories back in August to release an official statement about their breakup. Molly stated she was "extremely upset" that their journey had to end this soon. Tommy, on the other hand, mentioned he was "heartbroken" but "thankful" to Molly for making him a dad and having their daughter Bambi as the light in their lives.
Love Island star continued:
"Heartbroken to share that Molly & I have decided to end our relationship. The past 5 years have led us to having our beautiful baby girl Bambi & I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority."
