Beast Games episode 5 recap: Nine players compete for a private island and two make it to the end

Beast Games episode 5 came out on January 9. It saw the nine contestants who chose to compete for the $1.8 million worth private island, going for it. The episode started with a game of 'Hide N Seek', which culminated in two remaining players guessing on briefcases that would seal their fates. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with the winner of the private island to be disclosed in the next episode.

The nine players included Esteban, Kelly, Timothy, Misha, Brennan, Laric, Jamal, Mia, and Harrison. Kelly was the first one to get eliminated after the game of 'Hide N Seek', after which the remaining eight went on to play 'Bocce Throw' with coconuts. This eliminated Timothy and Jamal.

The 51 players who didn't choose to compete for the island then voted for the person they wanted to eliminate. Laric was the highest voted, so he got eliminated. The five players then had to choose one box each, out of the five boxes in front of them, one out of which, contained a red cross.

The player to pick the box with the red cross would be sent home. Misha chose the red box and was eliminated. Esteban chose to leave the game with $450K, leaving three players in the game.

The next game of 'Trust and Deceit' had Harrison eliminated, which left Mia and Brennan in the game.

The games that were played on Beast Games episode 5

Hide N Seek

For the game of 'Hide N Seek' on Beast Games, Mr. Beast asked the players to hide anywhere on the private island. He entrusted Navy Seals to find the hidden players, who only had trees, twigs, rocks, and hay to hide in.

The seals were looking to spot their bright blue uniforms, and the rules were that once a player was spotted, the other players would be safe. The one to be spotted would go home.

Kelly was spotted first. She hid under a thick layer of twigs and hays, but not well enough for the Seals to pass on. She was eliminated, and the others advanced to the next level.

Bocce Throw

The eight remaining players on Beast Games then participated in a game of 'Bocce Throw', where they had to throw a coconut near the finish line. The players whose coconuts would fall after the finish line would be eliminated.

If none of the players got their coconuts outside the finish line, the coconuts furthest from the finish line would get out.

Timothy was eliminated because his coconut went way behind the finish line. Jamal got out because after everyone took their throws, his was the one to fall the farthest from the finish line.

Choose a box

Only five contestants remained on Beast Games after the other players voted off Laric. These five had to pick a leader first. When they chose Harrison, they were told that Harrison would put a red cross in one of the boxes.

He would also choose the chronology in which each player would get to choose the box. The remaining box at the end would be his. Misha picked the box with the red cross, so he got out.

$450K or the private island

Mr. Beast then gave the players a choice— he said they could take the $450K chest and leave the game or continue. The first player to get to make the decision would be the one who picked box number 1. That was Esteban. He thought he was destined to pick box number 1 because the $450K was meant for him. So he took it and left the game.

Truth or Deceit

The three remaining players advanced to the game of Truth or Deceit. They had to choose from three tiles, namely, 5,3, and 1. Their numbers would decide how many steps they could take to the finish line. If two players pick the same numbers, they would cancel out and won't get to walk.

The players could openly discuss which numbers they are willing to choose, and be truthful about them or deceitful about them to affect the other players' distance to the finish line.

The one to make it to the finish line first would win the golden coconut, which would grant them the immunity to bring another player to the Beast Games final round. Mia made it to the finish line first and took Brennan along.

The final challenge

For the finale challenge on Beast Games, the two players had to hide the seal of validation in one of their two suitcases and the other player had to choose. The one to pick the wrong suitcase would get eliminated and the other one would win the private island. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, so it isn't known who won, at the time of this writing.
