Love is Blind: Germany premiered on January 3, 2025, on Netflix. The reality show flew over to Europe and introduced a new batch of hopeful singles looking to find love that went beyond the physical appearance of a person.

After going on several dates, one of the singles, Medina formed a connection with Sally. During one of their dates in episode 2, he opened up to Sally about his past.

The Love is Blind: Germany contestant told her that due to numerous rejections and experiences of being friend-zoned, he had built "high walls" around himself when approaching relationships.

Nevertheless, Medina admitted that in order to form a meaningful connection on the show, he would need to lower his walls and open up.

"I would say that I have built quite high walls around myself because of a ton of experiences, rejections, and being friend-zoned, experiences like that, but you really have to open up in here," he said.

While they got engaged at the end of episode 3, Sally broke it off after having second thoughts.

Love is Blind: Germany star Medina and Sally open up about their emotional walls

In Love is Blind: Germany episode 2, Medina and Sally had a discussion about their issue of opening up in their relationship.

When Sally asked Medina if he laughed a lot, he said yes. However, he expressed that when someone makes a joke about something serious, it diminishes the gravity of the situation.

Laughing off serious feelings or intentions, according to him, creates confusion and makes it difficult for others to take what’s being said seriously.

"When you make a joke out of something then it takes the seriousness out of things. 'Haha, I was just kidding.' 'I like you.' 'Haha, that was a joke.' Like that, right? Just that self-protection mechanism." Medina said.

Medina added that after enduring numerous bad experiences in relationships, he built high walls around himself as a defense mechanism.

Sally then expressed that she was glad that Medina shared his experience as she too had built "really high walls" around her over the last few years. She shared that she is always "cautious" while approaching a relationship and doesn't fall in love easily.

"I'm so glad you said that. I've built really, really high walls over the last few years... I'm really, really cautious. I don't fall in love very easily. It takes a lot of time for me. I think I only ever really fell in love once," she said.

Medina realized that their having high walls around each other could hinder their ability to express true feelings to their partner. The Love is Blind: Germany cast member called it an "obstacle" that they would need to overcome to move forward.

Sally agreed with what Medina said and added that they both needed someone in their life who could bring them out of their "shells" so that they could have more in-depth conversations.

"We really need to be clear about this, because we're thinking, 'Okay, we're so similar, so is it really right for us to move forward? Or is what we actually need, is a partner who'll give us the push we need to get there?'" Medina later shared in his confessional.

The Love is Blind: Germany couple managed to overcome their "walls" in episode 3 and got engaged. However, when they finally met in person, the chemistry evaporated.

Medina began laughing while looking at Sally, which made her feel uncomfortable. Later, she decided to leave the show, expressing that Medina was completely different from the person she had connected with in the pods.
