Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 completed its charter season with a finale episode, which premiered on September 23, 2024. The season covered the lives of returning and new Below Deck crew as they served their guests while overcoming the challenges that came in the process.
The finale of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 concluded one of the overarching storylines this season. Captain Sandy finally proposed to her girlfriend Leah Shafer. Her crew helped her plan the occasion, and the Captain was grateful for them.
The crew bid farewell at the end of the episode and went on their new journey. Some of the crew members went on vacation, while others took on different jobs to improve their skills.
Titled Happily Ever After, the synopsis for the episode reads:
"The crew bands together to ensure Capt. Sandy's proposal goes off without a hitch, but unexpected challenges arise; a new romance sparks on the final crew night out."
Where is the cast of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 now?
Captain Sandy Yawn got married
Captain Sandy Yawn got engaged to her girlfriend Leah Shafer at the end of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9. The couple went to Mustique sometime together after the show. Captain Sandy later got married to Leah on a boat in Fort Lauderdale on May 11, 2024.
A sneak peek of the wedding was shown at the end of season 9, where Captain Sandy said in a voiceover:
"In yachting and in life, I've never been more convinced that it's all about the things in life that you're passionate about. And embracing them as tight as you can. Whether it's on land or on a boat, I'm gonna spend the rest of my life loving Leah."
Aesha Scott got engaged
Aesha Scott came back for season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean and proved her worth on the show. She took Ellie, Bre, and Carrie under her wing and taught them a lot about the job. In one of the episodes of the season, she said in her confessional:
"I came, I saw, I conquered with the Greek gods. It just feels so great to walk off the boat and say, 'I'm a Med motherf-cking chief stew, b-tch."
After completing the filming for the show, the chief stew got engaged to her boyfriend Scott "Scotty" Dobson.
Elena "Ellie" Dubaich is improving her skills
Ellie Dubaich was the center of attention on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, and drama followed her throughout the season. Currently, Ellie is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In an interview with Bravo's The Daily Dish in September, Ellie discussed her life after the season 9 shoot and said:
"I’ve spent the past year freelancing on a variety of vessels in service and I’ve worked as a solo stew. I’ve taken courses on bartending, purchased liquor to practice, done a Chief Stew course and a Yacht Purser course. I feel much more confident in my skills and I’m looking forward to always learning and growing further in my career."
Joe Bradley is seeking a lead deckhand role
Joe indirectly caused a lot of chaos this season. He was involved in a love triangle and somewhat responsible for Ellie's feud with Bre and Carrie. In an interview with Bravo's The Daily Dish in July, Joe shared that he was looking for a lead deckhand role.
Nathan Gallagher is working as a solar engineer
In a coversation with Captain Sandy, Nathan shared that working on Mustique had boosted his confidence. He was reportedly assured that he'd be called to come back for another charter season.
However, he opined that "it's not a bad decision to take a more responsible role moving forward" in his career. He is currently working as a solar engineer. In an interview with Bravo's The Daily Dish in July, he shared:
"I’m working offshore on vessels just as a solar engineer."
Update on the rest of the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 cast
In the finale episode of Deck Mediterranean season 9, Bre Muller shared that she gained a new sense of confidence, which she will use in her life going forward. Bre's stewmate Carrie O'Neill told The Daily Dish in September that she has relocated to Florida and is working as a chef on a yacht.
As for Gael Cameron, she left the boat with Nathan, and the two continued their relationship. However, in the post-finale After Show episode, she shared that the couple broke up after not being able to work through.
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 solo chef Johnathan Shillingford shared his plans in the finale episode and said that he might consider going to culinary school to get "more general training."
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episodes are available to watch on Bravo and Peacock.
